how to use "hace que"

What is the difference between these two following sentences : "Vivo aquí desde hace diez años" y" Hace diez años que vivo aquí"

Both sentences mean the same to me: I live here since 10 years ago.

Desde hace means that something has being happeing for a while: I started living here 10 years ago and I still do.

Hace (without que) means ago. If you say "Hace 10 años vivía aquí" means "I lived here 10 years ago" (that would be the difference in meanings).

However if you use "hace... que" means the same as "desde hace": I started doing it and I still do today.

I like the way llevar can be used to express the same meaning ie Llevo 10 años viviendo aquí.
