¿Qué hace?

¿Qué está haciendo?

If you are speaking to a friend, you might want to consider using the second person singular, rather than the third, usted.

When talking to a friend it's like this ; ¿Qué haces? or ¿Qué estás haciendo?

El gerundio (haciendo) is used with estar

P.S. : Once I heard in a movie ;

¿Alberto , qué es lo que estás haciendo? = What is the thing that you are doing Alberto?

It's the long way to ask it , I think.. smile
