Look forward to sharing, or Look forward to share.

Agradecería mucho que me explicaran lo siguiente:

Recibi en mi cuenta de twitter un mensaje directo de una amiga que decía lo siguiente: " Hey, thanks for tweeting with me. Look forward to sharing lots of inspirational messages and resources with you." Bueno mi pregunta es acerca de porqué no se dice "Look forward to share lot of inspirational messages and resources with you." Me parece extraño que se use el gerundio después de (to), ya que ésto yo lo había notado solamente cuando se utiliza (for), Ejemplo; Thank you for coming. Por favor deseo orientación sobre ésta construcción gramatical.

Look forward to sharing ...

The "to" goes with the "look forward" , thus its "look forward to" + "sharing" not "look forward" + "to sharing".

In this construction, "sharing" is, indeed, a gerund (but do not confuse the English gerund with the Spanish gerundio, they are quite different). A gerund is a verbal form (that looks just like the present participle) that is used as a noun. Note: it is not the "-ing" ending that makes it a gerund but, rather, its use as a noun. Grammatically, "sharing" acts just like a noun in this sentence (compare with "I look forward to Saturday.", for example).

I am a native speaker but grammar is not yet my strong point. I can say (I) Look forward to sharing.....is a correct construction.

It's not the gerund it's the progressive tense. I hope this helps.

I enjoy sharing my language with you. - progressive

My native language is also American English.Look forward to sharing is a common, quick note, type of phrase, but the correct way is as Nizhoni pointed out. You should say "I look forward..." or "I am looking forward...".
