This is where context would help. If I'm talking on the phone and they ask me if I would wait a minute, I'd just say sí, espero. If I'm at the car dealer and they ask me if I'm going to wait for a repair, I'd probably say sí, voy a esperar. I'd only use esperaré if I were talking about doing some waiting at some point in the future.
