word "faul" in Spanish

Question

This is a pretty random question, but is the word "faul" (meaning a foul in sports) in Spanish a masculine or feminine word? Is this used more often than "falta"? Thanks!

I only think they use for béisbol.

Faul es un extranjerismo no incorporado totalmente al idioma. Se utiliza en la lucha libre cuando golpean en las partes bajas ¡faul!. En otros deportes se ha impuesto falta en los últimos años. Eso en la ciudad de México.

un faul es lo mismo que una falta ( they are both the same)

but here is another word pretty uncommon "Viola". I know it sounds as rape, but is also used in sports as well.

here are some examples:

I don't know if you heard a children saying "viola, viola!" while playing soccer. but it is also the same as falta or faul.
