Why are the years of our birth no longer in our profiles? (Just wondering.)

I think one reason is so that the men will no longer be forced to tell the truth and the women will no longer be compelled to lie. Another is so that actress-models will be able to remain in SD as ageless teenagers. tongue wink

I read somewhere that you should not post your birthday for security reasons along with other personal information. I suppose it is another way to help prevent identity theft.

So why not just post the year of birth and not the month and day? Knowing the general age of someone can help us answer the question. It tells us where the person is coming from in terms of life experience.

There are people on this site who are eternally 19, wait, 17? hmmmmm LOL

Fact is: I don't know.

I liked having the year of birth!

It told us whether a question came from a 15 year-old or a 65 year-old person.

OOOh , that cut to the quick , are you saying you can tell by the content just how old or young someone is, then how would you know if they are not being totally untruthful , like is Fred a Freda, or Ray a Raelene , or someone claiming to be aged in order to engender sympathy. there the secret is out , I am really a teen age student studying the influence of Latin language on Dance and movement, the subterfuge has been too too stressful and this false beard is playing havoc with my peaches and cream complexion. cool smile

Marianne

I agree with Marianne-- Whenever a post sounded like homework, I would go onto their profile and see how old they were, if it was high school/ college age, I knew it was probably homework, but if it was older, like say 65, they just genuinely needed help (unless a 15-year-old lied about their age).

Some people, as it is, lied about their age so that they could be protected from identity theft. Like this girl in my Spanish class lied about her age on her, but she does not use SD anymore.
