ASK A QUESTION A verb for texting...
Hi y'all, I am searching to see if a verb for "texting" has evolved in the Spanish language. I assume textear (but you know what happens when you assume.) I know that some form of the verb must have evolved. Textar? Texter? Textir? Or maybe just mensaje de texto? Enviar ub mensaje de texto? Any and all help from you professionals is appreciated. Thanks. Vance >

There is a verb in Spanish for "texting"............. "Destruir" [el idioma español]
I know what you're asking...a verb for texting.
The dictionary was no help, it says:
text message -> mensaje (m) de texto (sent by mobile phone)
text messaging -> mensajería (f) de texto
"To text" is the same as "to write a text message", so I would say "escribir un mensaje de texto"
I suggest you do a quick Google search for "textear". Indeed, I believe the verb you want has been invented! ![]()
NO se usa en España, fact is I am asking my 14-year-old student if he would understand textear and he says , no way![]()
Of course, they are smart kids! They won't be caught dead admitting to their teacher that they use "incorrect" Spanish! :-D - Gekkosan
I teach English , my students a r e Spanish, and they do not understand textear, it is a horrible spanglish formation. Fortunately not used here.
I asked this question a few weeks ago. The replies:
En España mandar un sms o mensaje de texto.
Aquí en México decimos textear.
