Why do people get mad when someone speaks… .Why do people get mad when someone speaks Spanish but when they talk in English they don't? Blockquote

I have been just about every state along the east coast of the US, many in the south and a few in the center. In addition, I have been to the Mediterranean including Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Also, the Bahamas, Virgin Islands, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.

I do not like the tourist areas of any country. We would always get away from those areas and meet the real people of that country. I have partied in every place I have ever been with the real locals and experienced their culture day and night, exception is Saudi Arabia because it is a dry country without a real night life and many hated us without speaking, many times a Saudi would change their direction and walk to with ten feet of us, spit on the ground, and then stomp on it with their sandaled foot.

So far the friendliest people I have ever met are in Central America. I am not including the people that own or operate businesses; they are friendly because it is good business.

An extreme example: From a car at a stop light in the US I saw a kid wipe out on his bike, 15 to 20 people walked by before the first person stopped to assist. Compare that to: Walking on a side walk in Costa Rica my wife tripped and fell. Within seconds we had 3 people that came from different directions asking if she is OK and one man literally ran across the street to a “Soda” and returned with paper towels and ice for her knee.

In addition, just talking, or trying to talk, with these people is great. I feel more at home here than I did back in the US.

What country have you been that the people are the friendliest? In the US what state? ¿Para tu, en qué país es de la gentes más amistoso? ¿En Estados Unidos qué estado?

Depends how friendly you are.

I have been to a lot of countries, all having friendly people. Narrowing it down to just my top ten! would be difficult. And the one country that can't make that list, I would like to revisit, because I know that how people are approached can make a big difference in how friendly they are and I know I was not having a good day when I got to that one.

I have travelled to many countries of the world as an adult: Spain , France, Belgium Greece and even ventured into Southern Germany while staying at a friends house in France while on an exchange holiday, and met people from many countries. I have invariably found the Hispanic people from Spain and South America amongst the most friendly and open people in the world esp Brazil, Peru and Chile There are friendly people to be found in probably most, if not all. countries of the world as also there are honest and dishonest people. Other people groups I have consistently found to be friendly include: Canadians New Zealanders most Australians most people from USA and many English people

This list is not intended to be exhaustive so if you don't find your country mentioned please don't be alarmed or take offence and don't cross me off your Christmas card list yet (I wasn't on there? Oh well you can add me later! hahaha)

DonVon, I'm not sure which country has the "friendliest" people, but when i was 11 my family and i went to Paris on vacation, and everyone was extremely rude, the city was wonderful, beautiful even. The museums were very interesting even for an 11 year old but when it came to the locals... completely rude! You no the saying "snotty maitre d' come from Paris", they weren't joking, they were so rude that if the food wasn't so delicious we probably wouldn't have eaten out much!

  • Similar experience in Marseille, France with the general public. Proprietors were friendly though. - DonVon May 17, 2010 flag

By far, the most gentle and friendly people I have come across are from Indonesia.

I've been to Mexico and Texas but with my boyfriend's family. They were very nice and welcoming, but then again, I'm his girlfriend. However, they could have treated me anyway that they wanted to treat me. I still say that Mexico is the friendliest, and Texas is the friendliest in the United States.

I've been to Oaxaca, Mexico a few times and I can't say enough about the friendliness of the people there. It's a safe, fun city to visit.

The U.S.!!!

Okay, that's a lie. I have never left the country (U.S.) before. Some people can be quite friendly, while some can be quite rude. I guess it depends on what city you are. In a city that is always in a rush, I think the bicycle accident that happened where no one helped would be more prone to happen. I have heard that people in Central America (Central Americans?) are very friendly and very hospitable.

  • Both cases happened in towns about the same size. - DonVon May 17, 2010 flag
