Can someone correct my Spanish: Pienso que patinaje es interesante

Question

Pienso que patinaje es interesante, pero yo no lo puedo hacer. Me gusta ir para un vuelta en el coche. Me gusta boliche, pero no soy bueno en eso. Me gusta el ajedrez, pero es muy difícil. Fui a la playa el verano pasado; yo lo amé. Mi pasatiempo favorito es la lectura.

Does "la lectura" refer to the action of reading as well, or just a "reading" as in a passage of writing?

Would it be better or the same as:

Mi pasatiempo favorito es leer.

• Interesting comment, but I don't think that it is valid. Dictionary defines it as " act of reading" as well as other contexts. - qfreed May 16, 2010

Spanish uses the definite article when mentioning things (nouns) that are general in nature.

... and I'd take out "ir para" if I'm jaunting off in the car. "Me gusta dar una vuelta en el coche" is enough.

...also - I don't go for this "no soy bueno para eso" construction. My friends and acquaintances would have said someting like "pues no lo juego (muy) bien" at least 90% of the time.
