Little Finger

Question

Hi all

I found these two translations for the "little finger" in flashcards: "el dedo meñique" and "el dedillo".

Which one is correct?

Use whichever. Why should there be only one name in Spanish for a little finger.

I seriously distrust this word "correct". It's been pointed out in innumerable threads that what you use in one region of one country at one time in your life to one person may not work if you change any of these parameters.

...and I also found "dedo auricula". Compare this with the French where "auriculaire" (without even saying that it's a "doigt") is very, very common if not the only word. FYI it translates more or less to "the finger you ream out your ear with", We had a French French teacher and he did it all the time.

In Costa Rica the correct is "el dedo meñique" the other may also be correst in a different area or as slang. However, in the translator "el dedillo" is finger tip.

Thanks - I meant to say: Are they both correct? Or if only one is, which one is it?

I 'd never listened about "dedillo"... we commonly say "meñique"... about auricular that's more for scientific or technical language.
