At work they say "para ca" and "para ya" it's when they are positioning something. What do they mean? Para ya means stop?

Actually, if you listen carefully, we don't say para we say:

pa'ca o pa'yawink

This is very shortened for:

Para acá o para allá

They are probably saying "por aca" and "por alla."

Aca - here and alla - there

In the beginning it is difficult to distinguish the spaces between spoken Spanish words, especially if you are not already familiar with a particular phrase. Good for you though, that you are able to spell what you think they are saying.

Hola. Para aca indicates close as in Here. Ven aca. Come here. Aquí also means here.

Para allá indicates a distance. Esta casa allá. That house there (across the street.) Allí also int\dicates distance

They show the position of something relative to where you are.
