ASK A QUESTION Firefox add-on - spellchecker
I've found a great resource for my browser (firefox 3.6) It's a Spanish-spell checker that works perfectly when I type into a "text area" (like this one I'm typing into right now). When I make a mistake it underlines the word with a red squiggle. Simply right click the word and an alternative spelling appears in the menu.
Even better is the fact that you can change it to English (
) - essential when you're not typing Spanish of course.
I've been using it now for about 2 weeks and it hasn't hiccuped once. Here's the link if you're interested.........

Under Tools....Add On....Extensions....make sure that whatever dictionary you want to use as a Spell Checker is listed and not "greyed out".

Thank you for sharing it, Patchy. Perhaps it is good for me to install in some specific languages ![]()
Patch,
That sounds awesome!
Have you also figured out that you can set Microsoft Word to spell-check (and grammar check) in Spanish? It fixes the dumb stuff I do like not making the pronoun the right gender. ![]()
muchas gracias
this is great help not only for Spanish but for English as well ![]()

I have been using it for some time. The only problem with it is that you get too lazy to switch back an forth between the two languages. For example it is underlining every word that I am now writing since it is expecting Spanish words.
After seeing all of your words in your replies underlined most of the time you tend to ignore it. So now, even when writing in Spanish, I tend to overlook the corrections.
Strictly, due to my own laziness, however. Not a fault of the product. And it wouldn't even help if they made the product recognize which language that you were using since most of replies here are 1/2 Spanish, 1/2 English.
How do you activate it? I have Firefox 4.0.1 and have restarted the browser since installing, but it does not seem to be functioning for me.
- While in your Firefox browser go to the link in the original post, click on "download," and after it has finished, click on "yes" to allow it to reboot Firefox. - territurtle Jun 8, 2011 flag
- Got it now... I had to right click to change spell-check language. - danrivera Jun 8, 2011 flag
