It comes from the verb "salir" ... El dinero está saliéndose de la billetera.. (the money is getting out of the wallet)

Can you post your sentence?

I think you will find your meaning in the dictionary under the infinitive of the verb: salir

Look for what is called the pronominal form: salirse.

Con apuros y cierta desesperación, por no poder frenar a Kobe Bryant y por los fallos desde la línea de tiros libres en los instantes decisivos de Nelson y Carter, Orlando acabó saliéndose con la suya.

Well, what form of salir is it? I've never seen that before.

Salirse (Pronominal verb)

Salirse con la suya is an expression that means to get one's (own) way

Have a look at lesson 4.14 here. It covers Spanish gerunds. Saliendo is one of those.

Maybe you already even noticed that the "se" which is part of salirse, the pronominal form, is then affixed to the end.

Maybe you even noticed that accent over the "i", (which accent you took the trouble to reproduce, too!!) That accent ensures that you maintain the same stress as for saliendo without the "se".

I hope this helps you to understand....I did not actually look up the meaning myself and would have to think about it a little more for your context.

  • Rocky posted the example in the third post Janice. The expression is "salirse con la suya" - Benz Mar 7, 2010 flag
  • Ah..you have the meaning from Benz now. (And so do I:-) - Janice Mar 7, 2010 flag
