ASK A QUESTION Written Translation Exercise - "República Argentina"
This week's exercise is a cultural note that will briefly introduce you to Argentina. It is not that complicated and is intended for upper-level-beginner to intermediate learners. However, anyone is welcome to participate. Do your best to translate this short paragraph, then post your answer. Even if you understand parts of it, post your attempt. Making mistakes is the only way to learn something new.
Keep in mind that since others may have already posted an answer, you could look at their answers first... but... Where's the fun in that? ![]()
For a look at the answer to the previous exercise, click here. There was good participation and good feedback. I appreciate that. Further comments and suggestions are always welcome!
I have included approximate figures in metric units as well as US standard units since the forum has an international membership. You can choose to include one or the other or both in your translation. ![]()

Argentina, land of extraordinary diversity, extends approximately 4,000 kilometers to the southeast of the South American continent. Crossing the territory is the rugged Andes mountain range with peaks with elevations of over 6,000 meters. In the tropical jungles of the north live the Yaguaretes (?) and the Tapires (?). To the south, in the frigid waters of the Tierra del Fuego (Land of Fire), where the waves reach 30 meters, the penguins and the whales play. In the planes, the cowboys ride horses over large ranches, or open livestock feeding ranges.
