I've always been a little confused about using the subjunctive when there is no subject change. Should I use an infinitive w/ the above question: "Espero no llamar demasiado temprano?"

Espero no estar llamando muy (demasiado) temprano.

(I hope I am not calling too early.)

I would say off the top of my head:

"Espero que no estoy llamando demasiado temprano."

estoy llamando = I am calling the present subjunctive of I am not calling ** is **Yo no esté llamando :so the sentence

I hope I am not calling too early. can be translated as: Espero no estar llamando demasiado temprano. or

I hope (that) I am not calling too early. Espero que yo no esté llamando demasiado pronto.
