Es la palabra "precipitante" un termino usado en psicologia?

I looked at your profile and do not know if you are a native English or Spanish speaker. Precipitant would be usually be an external incident that caused another series of symptoms, a syndrome or other constellation or symptoms that would be a full diagnosis.

More specific context would be helpful.

My guess, an occurrence that makes someone loose control of himself. Like The teacher who killed(aproximate) workmates because she was fired from her teaching job. Being fired was the "precipitante" or catalyst that made her loose control.
