Hola todos!

Tengo una pregunta regarding the adjetivos posesivos. If I want to say 'our house' and I am a woman speaking for a group of women, I would say nuestras casas. But if I am male and speaking for a goupr of men, would I then say nuestros casas?

The question is, does nuestro/a change because of who is speaking or because of the gender of the noun?

Estoy confundida!

Muchas gracias por respuestas ! Dee

Nuestro/Nuestra always matches the noun in both number and gender. It does NOT match the number or gender of the speaker.

Some examples:

Jack and John: Nuestras casas son pequeñas. Nuestro coche es pequeño.

Jill and Julie: Nuestra casa es pequeña. Nuestros coches son pequeños.

Jack and John and Jill: Nuestros coches son pequeños. Nuestra casa es pequeña.

Hmmm... I hope that makes some sense.

Hi DeeZee

Try looking in the "Reference" section under "More" and look in the "Spanish Grammar" section for possessive adjectives.

You will find the answer there.

Under normal circumstances, adjective modify nouns and agree in gender and number with the nouns that they modify (irrespective of the speaker). In the case of predicate adjectives, (e.g "Soy alto/a" the adjective does, indeed, agree with the gender/sex of the speaker but that is because there is an implied noun (referring to the speaker).
