- Gracias. So if I said, I went home to eat lunch I would use fui, If I say I am going to go home, I would use voy? - adecker Feb 3, 2010 flag
- Yes, you've got it right! - --Mariana-- Feb 3, 2010 flag
To say "I go home" you would say "Voy a casa".
To say "I am going home" you would say "Estoy yendo a casa".
To say "I am going to go home." you would say "Voy a ir a casa."
- Estoy yendo is very unusal....mostly you'd say "Voy a casa." - --Mariana-- Feb 3, 2010 flag
- would you please give me an example for using fui? - adecker Feb 3, 2010 flag
Marianne stated it perfectly. Fui is the supper irregular past tense of ir. Ir is one of the weirdest verbs that I have learned so far!
I'll restate it again: Fui is past tense, and Voy is a conjugation of the present tense.
What's the difference between:
"Me voy a casa" and "Voy a casa"?
or "Me estoy yendo a casa" and "Estoy yendo a casa"?
"Me estoy yendo a casa" is sometimes used and is not unusual in Argentina at least.
It's used when you want to say I'm going home and you mean that you are doing it at that moment, or you are already on your way home.
