I am confused. My dad's dictionary from 1979 says that to miss/long for is "hechar de menos" but a friend says "hecar" does not exist. When I wrote "echar de menos" I was told that it is "hechar". Now I am confused. Which is correct and why?

It is echar de menos=to miss

see definition 17 towards bottom of page


La palabra hechar no está registrada en el Diccionario. Las que se muestran a continuación tienen una escritura cercana.
