Hola,

I am teaching my 3 year old son about the five senses. I want to use similar simple wording in Spanish as I did with English. I got stuck with taste. This is what I have for the five senses:

1.Tu ves con tus ojos. Yo veo con mis ojos.

2.Tu oyes con tus orejas. Yo oyo con mis orejas.

3.Tu hueles con tu nariz. Yo huelo con mi nariz.

4.Tu tocas con tus manos. Yo toco con mis manos.

Then I got stuck trying to figure out how to say I taste and you taste. There was phrasing that translated to I take a liking to, I try and I sample. there was nothing for I taste. I understand that Spanish doesn't always have direct translations. so If a Spanish speaking parent were to teach the five senses to her child how would she word it for here 3 year old.

Thanks a lot in advance. I really appreciate it.

Tú saboreas con tu boca. Yo saboreo con mi boca.

Oigo con los oídos is better because Orega is the outer part of the ear and Oído in the inner part with which we hear.

  • Thank you. I did not know that. Great, that makes sure I don't teach him wrong. Thanks again. - Niki-K-F Jan 15, 2010 flag

hello, oir is a tricky verb, so the Spanish expression would be:

2. oyes con tus orejas. Yo oigo con mis orejas.

ah, with stress is the personal pronoun and tu without stress is the possessive adjective.

  • Gotcha, I forgot to put the accent. that bit I do know just forgot how at the moment on my keyboard. I have it now. Thanks though. - Niki-K-F Jan 15, 2010 flag
