Well I hope this helps, but i know the difference between spain spanish and mexican spanish. If you go to spain and speak mexican spanish, they will think you are an idiot.I do not know if it is the same in Argentina. There are some differences in the speech pattern also.Mexican tends to be shorter in most cases.Take cookies for example,Galletas(spain),and Galletias(Mex.).But that is just one.
Hope i could at least help you a little!
- I think you are right that in Spain they might think it a bit odd that vosotros is excluded... but I think idiot may be a bit harsh! If they think fluent Mexicans are idiots, Id hate to know what they thought about me... - wallpaper Jan 12, 2010 flag
- No, no, no! I'm Spanish and I've never known anyone who thinks Mexican speaking people are idiots. And galletias does not exist. Galletas are galletas everywhere. - Blanca_Gonza Jan 13, 2010 flag
Cookies are galletas in both Spain and Mexico, hispanicwannabe. (There is no such word as galletias, by the way.)
And where did you get the preposterous idea that Spaniards would look "down" on Mexicans? Have you visited both countries?
Also, you wrote that Mexican Spanish (whatever that is) is "shorter" but in the example you gave, galletias (which isn't a word) actually has 9 letters to -
oh, never mind!!!
- In my question I mentione nothing about Mexicans Or Mexican spanish. I don't know where this came from. I gave no examples whatsoever and am not concerned with Mexican Spanish. - Debbie-Clee Jan 29, 2010 flag
well there are most definitely going to be many sayings and words that are different. That is how it is from the spanish in every country.
Hi, there is no problem. Just dont say "coger" and everything will be allright.
- I have never seen this word used in my correspondence (or used it myself). Can you tell me what is bad about this word in Argentina? - Debbie-Clee Feb 25, 2011 flag
It's the same as British English and American English. There are some differences, especially in the "music" of the language, but it's the same language.
