How do you say "Can i ask you a question?"

the ask and question thing is a little confusing. how would i say "Can i ask you a question?"

• Shouldn't that be "May I ask you a question?" Of course you "can" but you are really asking for permission. This is to help those learning English. - ian-hill Jan 12, 2010

I have heard sometimes that sentence translated as :

¿Puedo preguntarte una pregunta? .... Let me tell you this is unusual, because it's redundant.

Certainly you could say:

¿Puedo preguntarte algo? or

¿Te puedo preguntar algo? or

¿Puedo hacerte una pregunta? or

¿Te puedo hacer una pregunta?
