ASK A QUESTION Aguila Roja is back!

It isn't spam. It's my favorite Spanish show and I'm personally really excited about it. I'd love to chat about the characters, the plot and the cinematography with SpanishDict members. Also, my Spanish isn't good enough to catch all the dialogue so it would be great if people could fill me in when I'm stuck.
Oh my god, I LOOOVVVVVEEEEE this show! Haha. This show is so fantastic I can't even put words to it!
A little background: I spent a year in Spain and almost all the TV shows (I'm talking about non-news, non-comedies, non-reality shows) were dubbed. I mean, I remember 'The Ghost Whisperer' and 'CSI' a lot more than anything else I saw on TV my time there. There just didn't seem to be much on TV in terms of more serious shows like this made by the spanish. I really didn't like watching the dubbed stuff at all..so when I stumbled across 'Aguila Roja' I was blown away! Finally, a real, authentic Spanish made production (no dubbing, no CSI, no Ghost Whisperer).
I've seen every episode (a bit on TV, caught up on all the episodes online at the rtve site) and am eagerly awaiting the movie that's supposedly going to come out along with the upcoming season.
Does anyone know of any more serious authentic spanish/latin american shows? It'd be great to know of other spanish stuff like this to watch that aren't telenovelas or comedies. These are more over the top, which, while can be cool for a while, I don't really want to watch these on a regular basis at all.
For those that don't know 'Aguila Roja' is the highest-cost TV production ever to have been made in Spain. It's set in the New World times after America has been discovered and when Portugal is fighting to break away from the Spanish empire. It's set in a city/town where the main character 'Gonzalo' lives and fights injustices everywhere as 'Aguila Roja'. The side characters and villains are SUPERB. Satur, Gonzalo's sidekick is really funny and has great back story and personality. The villain, the 'comisario' is a real a-hole, you love to hate him, but at the same time, the show really gives him several dimensions, as he's not just plain evil, you also get to see his human side and how he sticks up for 'Lucrecia' a lot and plays a father figure role for 'Nuño' her son. 'Alonso' - Gonzalo's son I even like, and I don't like child actors much, but he does a good job here and is a joy to watch.
Anyways, if you haven't seen this show, watch it now! This is totally unique, and different from the telenovelas and over the top comedies we've all seen when looking to expose our ears and mind to spoken spanish. There is fantastic action (Gonzalo when in his 'Aguila roja' outfit looks like 'Assassin's Creed' and kicks butt literally with his katana and oriental martial arts skills), story and production value is extremely high, and gives a nicer, more reality based, more serious show to watch than the aforementioned genres.

I just discovered this randomly a short time ago. Great show - Zorro with mad ninja skillz, set in 17th Century Spain instead of colonial California. The speed and the accent strain my listening abilities to the breaking point, but I get most of it. It's a lot more interesting than telenovelas or goofy comedies.
The blog with the subtitles is dead, apparently. Anyone have any clue where to get them else where?
It is very advanced for me too, but I did bookmark and watch it for about an hour. I would like to find subtitles for the show too. It got me all motivated to finish watching http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish/mividaloca/ This is more my speed at the moment.
A mí me encanta la serie... a veces me muero de risa oyendo a Satur ![]()
No spam please.
I would love this if there were spanish subtitles... Sadly I dont think Im advanced enough to watch this without that crutch! But thanks for the tip on spanish media!
A new fan blog for Águila Roja has recently been launched. Spanish and English subtitles can be found there:

I don't know who first mentioned this show a couple of years ago, but I have enjoyed it as well. I watched the first season over a long period of time. While I only understand a small percentage of the dialogue, I keep hoping that as I watch more and more, I will be able to piece together more of the conversations to get a true grasp.
This is a great way to make learning fun and interesting.
La serie me fa mucha risa... es muy dramática .
