if the meaning if querer changes in the past tense to to try/to refuse then how do I say wanted

Drjaa, give the dictionary a shot. When you type in a word it will give you the spanish as well as the spanish conjugation (once your write that in the dictionary feature). smile It's all about learning!! wink

Sometimes the preterite of "querer" can give off the meaning of "try/refused", but you would use the imperfect tense to say "I wanted".

Quería= I wanted.or would have liked. The preterite is quise but which you use depends on the context of your full sentence.
