ASK A QUESTION conjugation of verbs
Hello!
I have alot of trouble with grammar, such as conjugating verbs. I already speak french so I was wondering, is it at all similar? Present, past tense and such, its all very complicated. Does anyone know any tricks or sites dedicated to conjugation?
Thanks ![]()

I studied French for several years. Although there are some similarities since they are both romance languages, I have still found it necessary to start fresh with Spanish.
Try not to overwhelm yourself with all of the tenses and moods at once. Start with the present tense and focus on memorizing and using the conjugation patterns of the regular -ar,-er and -ir verbs. Also memorize the most important irregular verbs in the present tense. Once you feel somewhat confident, move on to the past tenses, etc.
The conjugation tool on this site is excellent, if you have not tried it out yet.
Also, I have found the book "601 Spanish Verbs" by Berlitz to be excellent for giving an overview of the Spanish verb system, followed by 601 verb conjugations. They point out which verbs are the most useful to know.
Finally, hang out here and participate with the many opportunities to form sentences in Spanish. You will be able to see how others do it, see their mistakes corrected and also have yours corrected as well. I have learned a lot here!! ![]()

I think the verb conjugation issue is going to be the same challenge in Spanish as French. I do not know if there are similarities between the two though.
The conjugations are similar in that the romance languages (generally speaking) in that they have some sort of suffix alteration depending on the subject. While there are certainly exceptions, if you already have already grasped the concept of changing suffix's (or stems) depending on the subject, you will certainly find it much easier to learn Spanish than a native English speaker who has never studied a romance language.
As for sites, there are SO many that can help. I would suggest a combination of anything you can find on Google. You may find a site you like best. Regardless, there are many resources if you choose to Google.
¡Buena suerte!
