podria is poder in the conditional tense whereas podia is poder in the imperfect tense

  • Podía is in the imperfect past. Podría is the correct spelling, not podria. - Jack-OBrien Dec 10, 2009

What Lucy said is correct, so podría (note the important accent!) means "I would be able to", while podía (another accent!) means "I was able to be".
