The greater the use of Spanish versus English, the less likely a woman will self-identify as American or Hispanic American instead of Puerto Rican. Language use may both shape and reflect an individual's identity.

En el español:

Cuanto mayor es el uso de el español en contra el ingles, es menos probable que una mujer se auto-identifican como estadounidense o hispano estadounidense en lugar de puertorriqueña. La usa del lenguaje puede forma y refleja la identidad de un individuo.

"Cuanto mayor sea el uso del español frente al Inglés, es menos probable que una mujer se identifique como estadounidense o hispano estadounidense en lugar de puertoriqueña. El lenguaje puede dar forma y reflejar la identidad de un individuo."
