In my Spanish book at school, in one of my assignments, it was talking about a band called "Los de abajo", or Underdogs. I was wondering if there is or ever was a band with that name?

Hi Crinklet. Welcome to the forum. grin I found this with a Google search:

Los de Abajo are a band from Mexico City founded in 1992 as a Latin Ska four-piece. Since then they have expanded to eight members and widened their musical influences to include rock, salsa, reggae, ska, cumbia, Son Jarocho and banda sinaloense.

  • Ska is a modern style of vocalized Jamaican popular music, notable for its shuffling, scratchlike tempo and jazzlike horn riffs on the offbeat. :-) - --Mariana-- Dec 4, 2009 flag

Yes, there is a band called los de abajo, I have two of their albums, I like them alot. I posted a question about their lyrics a bit ago:

Unfortunately, they only have very poor live performances on youtube, no official videos, or I'd post a link to some of their music :( Check them out on iTunes if you can smile

I might as well mention, while much of their music sounds alot like ska, it varies widely from song to song as far as the style. One of my favorite songs by them is Resistencia , which is not very ska like at all...
