My Spanish homework has an interactive part where you listen to a phrase and then answer questions about what you heard. One part said this:

"Necesito un coche que ________ rápido."

There was a verb in that sentence, but I didn't understand what it was. The speaker pronounced it too quickly. I know that the verb started with a "b" and had "rr" in it, but I have no idea how to spell it. Using context clues, I know that the verb must mean "to drive" or "to run" (as in a machine). But I don't know any verbs that start with b, have a double r in them, and have that meaning. Does anyone have any ideas?

Heidita, that might be it! One frase did say "Necesito un coche que vaya rápido." After listening to the exercise again, I noticed that there were two sentences. I incorrectly wrote the sentence with the verb I don't know, sorry. smile

The first one is: "Tengo un coche que _________ rápido." The second one says: "Necesito un coche que vaya rápido."

The topic of the exercise is using adjective clause in the indicative and subjunctive. I know for sure that the verb in the blank sounds like it starts with a b and has a double r in it. Any other ideas? Thanks for helping me!

Could the person have used the verb "volar"? There is a "v" and an "r

volar [vo-lar’] verb neuter 1. To fly, as with wings. (n) 3. To fly, to move swiftly. (n)

verb transitive 1. To put to flight (ahuyentar). (Ante Meridian & Latin American) (m)

e.g. I need a car that will quickly fly. Necesito un coche que volará rapido.

¡Gracias! Sí mi palabra puede comenzar con un "v." ¿Sabes algunas palabras que comienzan con un "v" y tienen "rr" también? Voy a preguntar mi profesora de español mañana. Pero gracias por todas las respuestas. grin

Good idea... Hmm... I just don't have a clue what it could be. What words start with a "b" and have "rr" in them? Because I know for sure those letters are in that verb.

Thanks everyone for trying so far! grin

Remember that a "v" is also pronounced like a "b." So your word might start with v.

Recuerde que una "v" también es pronunciada como una "b." Así que tu palabra peude comenzar con v.

I would use "corre" (from the verb correr) for this particular sentence. This would make it say "Necesito un coche que corre rápido." I mean it sounds stupid in english, but it would definently get the point accross. But, i'm sure it's been mentioned, "manejar" literally means "to drive"
