ASK A QUESTION What is the weather usually like in England?

Hola Lauriti

- Come to the border of Arizona and Sonora. Sunny virtually all the time, warm temperatures, with lots of bi-lingual folk you can practice with. Winter in England seems like winter in New England, which a reason I left to settle here. - 0057ed01 Nov 28, 2009 flag
- I Googled Lewes; has lots of charm, despite the weather. Actually, a great choice. You'll have a great time, but don't forget to bring a windbreaker, an umbrella, and your galoshes. - 0057ed01 Nov 28, 2009 flag
Hola Laurit
Yes, Lewes is in East Sussex in the South of England. It is actually the "County Town" of East Susex.
I used to work there and my boys went to college there - we lived about 20 mins. away in an area known as "The Ashdown Forest" (Winnie the Poo country)
It will be freezing cold for the time you are there , with plenty of rain and wind. One reason we left and moved to Spain! If it rains a lot the river will rise and flood the town - it happens frequently! Sometimes the river freezes over and it feels like Alaska.
The Spring and Summer, however, can be very pleasant. But not always.
You will not be far from Brighton which is a very cosmopolitan town with plenty to do.
Presumably you are going to learn English? There are plenty of colleges and language schools.
Take plenty of warm clothing - and have fun.
Regards, Caza
England has lots of good things to offer.
Weather is not one of them.

Hola Lauri, seguro que vas a tener muchas respuestas, si de algo saben los ingleses es del tiempo y del té, jeje
I can tell you here and now: it rains, and rains and rains....jejeje
It rains in some places all the time, but I'm told it is sunny in coastal areas. Unfortunately I have no clue where Lewes is.
Llueve en algunos lugares a siempre, pero me dicen que hace sol en las áreas costeras. No sé donde es lewes. Jeje, necesito practicar español mas, fue muy dificíl para mí escribir este.
For your information, Lewes is in the South Eastern part of the country and by amazing luck, this particular area normally has nice weather when the rest of the country is rainy. It is very historical around there and there are lots of interesting things to do. One thing that is a "must" is to have afternoon tea in one of the famous tea shops in Lewes even if they are only used by the American tourists!
The weather here in England is terrible. Why? Because it is always unpredictable, one minute sunny, the next heavy rain. In Lewes (it's in East Sussex, I think. I used to live in East Sussex!!), the weather has sunny intervals at times but the majority of the weather is just dull, depressing rain.
Good luck on your stay in England!! I hope you pack an umbrella with you because you're going to need it!!!!!!!!!!!
English weather??
Bobe Hope (an English born "American" comedian) once said of the English weather.
"If you don't like it just wait 5 minutes". - It changes that frequently.
Hello Lauriti,
Here in the UK, the Weather is famous for changing all the time especially along the South Coast. The Air is fresh and clean and somewhat cooler than say London or the other major Cities. Expect Temperatures between 18-26C in Summer and 0-5C during the long dark Winter Months. The Weather is unpredictable unlike Spain which is always Hot and Sunny so please bring your coat and a warm jumper. Snow flurries normally arrive in February or March and can last one or two days. Long Hot Summer days are usual except during the Wimbledon Tennis Tournament.
Lewes is situated on the South Coast and is in the heart of the beautiful South Downs which is recognised as a place of outstanding natural beauty. I hope you enjoy your time here in the UK ![]()
