"El significado original sí lo es."

"The original meaning ...???"

I understand "sí" in this case means "of itself" or something to that effect. I don't get the meaning of the phrase, though.

Gracias por sus repuestas.

"El significado original sí lo es."

"The original meaning is.

YOu cannot really translate this, you have to emphasise the is in the English version.

sí lo es. Tilde and no comma.

sí lo es (si with tilde) means yes it is. si lo es ( si without tilde) means if it is.

  • I didn't even see the tilde...shouldn't he have a comma in there too? sí, lo es - 0068e2f4 Nov 24, 2009 flag
  • Isn't it an accent mark rather than a tilde? Seems so to me... - 0057ed01 Nov 24, 2009 flag

If it is...If it is not yours you can't keep it, if it is then you can...Si no es tuyo no te lo puedes quedar, si lo es, entonces si

  • Do you think the tilde on sí was a mistake? - qfreed Nov 23, 2009 flag
  • Oh I see what you are talking about now...I didn't see the tilde on his post...I forget to wear my glasses. - 0068e2f4 Nov 24, 2009 flag
  • It might have been a mistake, look at his description --- I understand "sí" in this case means "of itself" - 0068e2f4 Nov 24, 2009 flag

Did that Sí have a comma after it?

It's an accent, not a tilde. Right?

  • Thank you. Very interesting, but seems like much ado about nothing. (Which includes my question, obviously.) - 0057ed01 Nov 24, 2009 flag
