La mera buena

Question

There is a local radio station that uses the tagline "La Mera Buena". The translation here says "the mere(ly) good one". If I enter just the word "mera", I get the following:

mera [may’-ro, rah] adjective 1. Mere, pure, simple, naked. 2. Precise, exact (preciso). (Mexico) 3. Right (justo). (Mexico) 4. El mero centro, the very center. (Mexico)

This is a Mexican station, so I was wondering if any of our Mexican members could tell me what this phrase means. It could be as simple as a tongue-in-cheek description, as in "we aren't great, just merely good." I have a feeling its more idiomatic and probably a little more clever than that.

It simply means "the best".

"The best radio station".

"Just the best one"

As mokay said, "the very best." This is a play-on-words with a Mexican expression "ella está buena," which means, "she is well built." (Ella es buena = she is a good person).
