Well you could use the verb "Esperar." which means to hope or wait for.

Espero que podamos ver(te/le)... en el futuro. (I hope we will see you...in the future.)

or

Quizás podamos verte/le... en el futuro. (Maybe we will see you... in the future.)

Another word used for "hopefully" is that of "ojalá", which is an arabic word stolen/added to Spanish during the time the Muslims had power in Spain.

  • En serio "latina punkera" no sabia que ojalá era una palabra que venía del árabe, que cosas que se aprende jajaja - EdiOswaldo Nov 19, 2009 flag
  • Yep, I learned about that from a native/fluent friend, thought it was pretty cool since I'm 1/4 Arabic. :) - LAtINaPunKRO Nov 19, 2009 flag
  • Whoops! lo siento Edi, no sabia q usted es un "beginner" en Ingles! Un amigo mio me lo enseno, el es un hispanohablante nativo. - LAtINaPunKRO Nov 19, 2009 flag

Hi DR! The word you want is "ojalá". Ojalá que... followed by the what you hope will be the case. Just try looking up "hopefully" or "ojalá" for examples. I remember this word because it sounds like "oh Allah". "Ojalá que sí" / "Oh Allah, that it would be so" (you might say were you so religiously inclined). Hope this helps.

  • jajajaja "Oh Allah" ---> pero sonaría así "oala", lo cuál es incorrecto. - EdiOswaldo Nov 19, 2009 flag
  • sí, sí, es verdad... solo un mnemotécnico :) - limes Nov 19, 2009 flag

I would use 'Espero que...' or 'A lo mejor...'

'Ojalá' will work, but you may want to save that for special occasions. wink It seems to carry more weight, like if you want to say:

"Oh, if only... !" or "Oh, how I wish that...!"

Oh, "ojalá" is the most fun to pronounce! And it has the plus of always being followed by the subjunctive... "Ojalá (que) nos veamos pronto." "Ojalá que haya algo de comer porque tengo demasiada hambre." "Ojalá no nos descubran." "Ojalá el gato no vomite en la alfombra rosada."
