...not in the hall or on the highway or anything...but in reputation points.

Yes, it´s official. I just zipped past Paralee, one of the creators of the site and the star of the video lessons. As of this writing, I have 3151 and she has a paltry 3097.

As a result, I am now fluent in Spanish.

Also, I just wanted to take this opportunity to say -- as a way to thank Paralee for all her hard work that she has put into the videos and the website -- "Eat my dust!"

I´m just being funny, of course, but it is kinda strange to pass the creator of the site in reputation points...I´m just saying.

  • And I thought I was going well (for a beginner) with 502 reputation... looks like I have a long way to go! :( - April-Sarah Nov 15, 2009 flag
  • HI web, she is not the creator of the site, that is Christopher. - Heidita Nov 15, 2009 flag
  • Would contributor be a better word? But she seems more than that. - webdunce Nov 15, 2009 flag
  • So u better change your name! :) - Valerie Nov 15, 2009 flag
  • I am going to work to pass you both!!! Hey, everyone reading this take the challenge. Let's not get much sleep this week to see if we can stay on the site at least 4-5 hrs per day or nite and pass them both!! Love you all @ SpanishDict so much :) - carol-daniel Jan 16, 2012 flag

Webdunce,

I can't believe I am just now seeing this! I was in Croatia for most of November, so I missed out on your lovely announcement. Congratulations!!!

I am a little embarrassed that my reputation isn't as amazing as yours, but like Samdie mentioned, I don't get reputation points for most of the stuff I do on the site. I asked Chris if I could bill more time just participating in the forum, but he said he preferred that I do more search engine optimization, marketing, content creation, etc. Ah, the life of working for an awesome website means you don't get to enjoy its content as much as you would as a regular user I guess.

But seriously, congratulations. Although, I may have to speak to Chris about appointing me 1,000,000 reputation points so that this doesn't happen again smile

Since you are now more fluent than she is in Spanish, I assume you are prepared to field all grammar questions that we would have asked her before you surpassed her.

Don't stir up too much dust. I'm still behind you struggling to catch up.

All you have to do now is concentrate on learning the correct forums to put your posts, hehe. I have changed this one for you from vocabulary to general discussions.

I hope webdunce doesn't replace paralee on the videos, because I have this strange feeling that he's not nearly as good looking!! LOL

Is it really necessary to point out that one doesn't get points for creating video lessons?

I am praying you weren´t compiling Croatian "flashcards", Urgh!!!!!

Believe me, Eddy, I made hundreds of old timey flashcards out of real index cards before I went and I still couldn't say anything. Croatian is extremely difficult, especially the pronunciation. I mean, even the name of the language "Hrvatski" is hard to say!
