Guys, I couldn't find this in the dictionary here. I just read a statement that said, "entre padres e hijos."

I have not seen that before. What does the e mean? Is it another way to say and (y)?

Thanks in advance.

It means "and". It is used instead of "y" when the next word following begins with an E sound.

  • In English, "a" and "an" work in a similar way, "an" is used before a vowel sound. - Mokay Nov 11, 2009 flag

Oh ok, thank you.

I did not know that.

  • A similar thing happens with "o"- i It changes to "u" when followed by a word beginning with O. - Goyo Nov 11, 2009 flag

Correct Goyo. "Entre padres y hijos" sounds very weird.
