I'm guessing mine as "intermediate." But sometimes I think it's much less than that.

I'd like to know how I can really know.

Thanks for your help in advance.

  • I also would like to be directed to the area to determine where I stand on the level of my knowledge. I finished the ninth grade, in Spanish before moving to USA about 30+ years ago, do no use Spanish on daily basis. - Silvia Nov 12, 2009 flag

I scored

A1 - 97%

A2 - 93%

B1 - 93%

B2 - 80%

.........But I've been studying for about 5 years. Anyone else?

  • Well, I still got 4 years and 2 months to get there then! After 5 years I guess you can really communicate with people, right? - Thomas-de-No Nov 11, 2009 flag
  • I wish!!! I have "book" knowledge but very little conversational experience... - patch Nov 11, 2009 flag

  • If you have been studying for 5 years and got those great scores, I have still got 3 years to go! - April-Sarah Nov 11, 2009 flag

Well, it`s tough to face the truth. mad

I just missed out on the A2, I needed 70 and only made 67 % - still only an A1 (by 93 %).

Room for improvement... oh oh

Well, actually I shouldnt be more than a beginner as Ive only studied for about 10 months.

On the other test I scored "Intermediate bajo".

  • I have studied for 10 months also near enough and got 73% pass on a1 and 37 on A2 so you are way ahead of me - RogerHH Nov 12, 2009 flag

I got a A1 (73%).

Something must be wrong I am only a beginner!

  • Well A1 is beginner, isn`t it? Or you may have been lucky or maybe you`re really bright! - Thomas-de-No Nov 11, 2009 flag

I used to think that I was at an intermediate level, too. Then I took one of Heidita's translation challenges (see links below) and found out that I was actually just a beginner.

Try to find out what this means: Navas

Try to find out what this means: Yo Leonor...

I'm disappointed in myself. I only scored 62%. Most of the questions I missed were vocabulary-related. At least I know where I need to improve now.

What does A1 mean ? What is the scale ?

A1 - 90 percent. I will check on the rest later and update this.. I wonder where it splits...Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced.... I consider myself intermediate but I don't "do" vostotros form because I'm learning Latin American Spanish.

Edit: So I had to retake A1 to get to A2. A1 = 100 percent. A2 = 80 percent. B1 = 60 percent. Doh. Maybe I'll retake it sober tomorrow. I guess this makes me Intermediate Beginner.

From the site: A1−A2 Basic User ( Beginner?) B1−B2 Independent User (Intermediate?) C1−C2 Proficient User (Advanced?)

These levels are documented by the Council of Europe (COE).

When I get back from the bar I will try my hand to see how far I can get drunk....

I got 97% on A1 and 73% on A2. I think I've reached my limit!

10 months of study 4 - 6 hours a week and I just scrape through A1 beginner. Very dishartening. ( but true !)
