I have no rep and I'd like some.

Why do you want reputation points? I managed to acquire a fair number of "points" (basically carry-over from the previous incarnations of the site) but I'm not sure what "kind" of points they are. As I understand it, one of the "benefits" of certain kinds of points is that I can edit other peoples' posts (to my recollection, I've only done that twice {and that was to correct minor typographical errors]).
On the whole, the points are in no way a measure of you progress in learning Spanish/English (assuming that that is, indeed, your goal). The fact that some/many people found your question/answer "interesting" does not mean that it was correct (or correctly expressed). In the long run, the "points" are a reflection of "popularity" and popularity is not the same as correct/interesting/informative.
Hi Tim: Welcome to the forum ![]()
First, please let me remind you that correct spelling, punctuation, and capitalization are required on the forum. This is a learning site and we have quite a few people learning English.
Second, simply post interesting and thoughtful questions or respond to questions posted by other members with some good answers and your reputation will grow naturally!
Good luck and it's good to have you here.
There, I just gave you 10 points for asking a good question!
You have to start using this site in every way by asking and answering questions on the forum and also by voting for other users answers and questions.
I don`t think there is such thing as an "easy way" tough. Just engange and hope that others appreciate your efforts!

Welcome and good luck!
I see you have quite a few people giving you suggestions!
I wish that I would have thought of asking a question like yours when I wanted reputation! I would love to vote for your question, but I don't have enough reputation!:-( Well, I would suggest to keep asking questions like this one, but don't get carried away, or people might start taking away your reputation!
P.S. I would have put some frown emoticons in there, but it just won't let me do that!:(
As a side note, this isn't a competition to see who can gain reputation the fastest. If it is, give up, there is no way that you are going to catch up to Heidita ![]()
Reputation is useful for those who really want to contribute to the overall improvement of the learning experience to members and visitors on this site.
What good does having the ability to edit posts do if you have no intention of helping to clear up any confusion or problems that you see?

- I would flag you for that answer if I could and if you didn' t put "Reputation is useful for those who really want to contribute to the overall improvement of the learning experience to members and visitors on this site." - Mariposa_48 Nov 20, 2009 flag
