an example taken from an old song.... from fiddler in the roof I believe.
the si part is not translated as yes, but instead the probability of if.

- thanks... i used to hear that song when i was a child and it always stuck in my head the 'if i were' part, since in proper grammar it's 'i am, you are/i was, you were' but... - zenejero Nov 9, 2009 flag
