Useful vocab for the city market
So I work for the city market and I was wondering about some vocabulary....Could I get some help? I tried to get some of it, but I don't know....I have spoken with some Spanish speaking people before, But I need to know the following terms please:
- Spinach -------- Espinica?
- Japanese Spinach --------- Espinica Japonés?
- Squash ------- cucurbitácea?
- Butternut squash ------- calabaza?
- Spaghetti squash --------- I couldn't find this one....??
- acorn squash --------- Calabaza?
- Collard greens ----------- hojas de col?
- Pumpkins --------- this one said calabaza also?
- Gourds --------- ok this said calabaza too.....?
- Mustard greens ---------- hojas de mostaza?
- Hybrid mustard greens -------- hojas de mostraza híbridos?
- Curly mustard greens ---------- hojas de mostraza y rizado?
- Turnip greens ---------- hojas de nabo?
- Hybrid turnip greens ---------- hojas de nabo híbrido?
- Pie pumpkins ---------- tarta de calabaza?
- Kale greens ----------- verdas rizadas?
- Turnips ----------- nabo?
- Sweet potatoes ---------- Patatas dulces?
- I may think of some others later...I'm kind of tired and sick and I can't think of what all we sold today.....

- Spinach = Espinaca
- Japanese Spinach = Kabocha
- Squash = Zapallo/Calabaza
- Butternut squash = Zapallo/Calabaza
- Spaghetti squash = Most times called "Calabaza de verano"
- acorn squash = Calabacino
- Collard greens = Col rizado/Berzo
- Brussel Sprouts = Coles de Bruselas
- Pumpkins = Zapallo/Calabaza
- Gourds = Ayote/Calabaza
- Mustard greens = Hojas/Brotes de mostaza
- Hybrid mustard greens = Hojas híbridas de mostaza
- Curly mustard greens = Hojas de mostaza rizadas
- Turnip greens = hojas de nabo/Grelos
- Hybrid turnip greens = hojas híbridas de nabo
- Pie pumpkins = calabaza para tarta
- Kale greens = Berzo
- Okra = chaucha de bamia
- Turnips = nabo
- Sweet potatoes = camote/batata
Wow... had to Google like 75 of them (even though there's only like 15)! But there is an obscure food forum I found which had these names. Keep in mind many are very regional, and some things are foods you will find mainly in the US and not in, say, Peru or Argentina.

This looks like a fabulous opportunity to create a flashcard set.When you make a set and type in the English word, the Spanish equivalent will be supplied. Sell on!
Sarah: you've got some tough words there. We may have to wait for a native or someone with a really good dictionary that can look up each word.
These two words I know are correct:
spinach = espinacas
sweet potatoes = batata
Can someone please look at these and tell me if they're right?
