ASK A QUESTION I can't understand! Help! "Que isiste ayer"
Ok, for my spanish class I have to listen to this recording and then answer. What I'm hearing is something like "Que esiste ayer" or "Que isiste ayer". But there are no such words according to the dictionary. If you have an idea of what that word could be please let me know!

Hi Horseshowgirl:
I think it's "Que hiciste ayer". What did you do yesterday?
Hacer (to do) is the verb. Hiciste is the preterite.

As you now know it means what did you do yesterday? so it is a question from a first person to the second person in familiar form so ¿qué hiciste ayer? could be answered thus: Hice nada todo el día. I did nothing all day, so he has answered using the verb hacer in first person to take this a step further you could ask where he went yesterday, ¿dónde fuiste ayer? past of the verb Ir he would reply using first person, ayer fui yesterday I went, other replies to the original question without actually reusing the verb hacer could be Hablé con mi madre por teléfono, Jugué el fútbol con mi hijo and if you are a bit hard of hearing like myself you could reply !Cómo¡ ¿ con quién hablaste? ¿con quién jugaste? to learn more about these preterite congugations just clic on more at the top of thi page and then congugations in the drop down menu and you will learn many ways of asking friends what they did yesterday, last week/year etc. Saludos Ken.
