I have seen it used for "yep" in a movie.

  • Si = yes, sip = yep ... get it? The movie was "Finding Nemo" by the way. - webdunce Nov 5, 2009 flag
  • THANK YOU!! This makes all the sense in the world. I have had to try decipher it several times in "chats" w/ both Mexican and Colombian friends. I was pretty sure from the context, but w/ slang/idioms it can be hard to know for sure. - tgtg123 Aug 30, 2010 flag

Hola Shinton: Welcome to SpanishDict.

If you mean can you translate "sip" into Spanish, there is a box at the top of this page that says "Translate", and so you can do it yourself easily.

If it is a Spanish word, I really do not know. Maybe somebody else will come in and help.

I use 'sip' in conversations with my Latin American friends on chat often. It does mean 'yes' or 'yep/yup.' It can also be a more expressive form of 'yes,' as in 'yes!!!!' or 'sip!!' The opposite form of 'sip' is 'nop' which equals the English 'nope' in instant messaging.
