I need to write an article for my English creative writing class. For that, I'm supposed to build-up an imaginary country and describe it. For considering various options, I've decided that my imaginary country would be somewhere in the middle of the North Pacific Ocean and the people of said country would speak Spanish [this is my clever way to put some of my knowledge to use, jeje]. I've decided on the names for the hotel that I'd be staying in and some sightseeing spots. But I really can't decide on what to name the country [a small islet] as. Please help by making suggestions cheese

I was thinking of Costa Luna [I think I heard about it somewhere], but I'm unsure

Gracias! smile

"La Costa de Luna" would be beautiful.

"La Isla Encantada" (Enchanted Island) or "La Isla de Encantos" (Island of Enchantment) also come to mind.

  • Thanks! I'll think about it :) - anne30 Nov 5, 2009 flag

El Dorado... it could be the legendary city of gold that was never found.

El Dorado was used by Voltaire to descibe an imaginary city in Candide.

Too bad it's not a horror story! Then you could name it "Isla de la Muerte" gulp

  • I remember a zombie movie with an island with that name. It was very bad. - sauceman56 Nov 5, 2009 flag

Imagine, sitting on the beach in the evening, watching the dolphins jump. You suddenly realize (it wasn't in the brochures for some reason) why they call it *** La isla de los Delfines***. Some people call it Delfines for short.

"La Isla de Queso" - The famous cheese tasting gettaway resort, and the official importer of cheese straight from the moon! They have a monopoly on moon cheese! raspberry

"Isla Bonita" o "Imaginate"

Both of those are good, realistic but non-existent names for countries. grin

  • Also after I better read your initial question, I thought of.... "Pacifico Norte" - DJ_Huero Nov 5, 2009 flag

Hola,

Excuse my Spanish, I had to try. Maybe in another few years all the folks up there in Alaska would speak Spanish. smile
