what is the difference of este fin de semana and esta noche? no sure when to use esta vs este

what is the difference in writing "este fin de semana" and writing "esta noche" I would think you would write esta because of semana ending in a and write este noche because noche ending in e, no the reverse. Can you explain it to me thanks Carla
