How long did it take you to become fluent?
I know it doesn`t happen over night, but I would like to know about how long did it take you to become fluent? How long until you were able to participate in conversations and fully understand expressions and such?
Gracias

I am not fluent in Spanish (not yet!) but I am fluent in Arabic. To the first part of your question, it took me four years to become fluent, but that depends on the individual. For some people, learning a new language from the word go, is difficult and as a result it takes many years for them to become fluent. I know of friends who put in the most effort everyday in learning Italian and after a couple of years, they could not only form simple sentences but could converse fully with Italian folk. It could even take a lifetime for a person to fully learn a language!

My advice to anyone who is learning a language would be to keep at it and practice as much as they can. And finally, I wish to conclude my post with this:

'If you master every word, every phrase, every pronunciation, and every grammatical point contained in even the simplest language learning method, you can consider yourself advanced.'
I have been studying for about 6 months now and I can keep simple conversations going. I hope to become more fluent and it could take years. It all depends on how much you put into it. Good luck!! ![]()
