Tal 's literal meaning is such . However its usage keeps changing with the sentences its being used in. How do I know what it means in the particular sentence?

The confusion and possible frustration you are experiencing are a natural result of seeing or hearing how many different uses are made of a single small word, "Tal." It's a natural result of learning a new language. I'm presuming that Spanish is not your mother tongue.

If English is your mother tongue, look in the Span¡shD!ct dictionary at two small words:

The word "To" is ---> Here, and

The word "Too" is ---> On This Page.

Consider this, that although you are having trouble now with the Spanish "Tal" you have already learned (long ago) how to deal with the English words "To" and "Too" and other English words like them.

Be patient with "Tal" and it will come to you. You may have to give it some work, but, it will come.

Honestly, I've had to just memorize different use cases with "filler" words like tal. I'd love to find a set of rules to use instead, if anyone can share some.

If you really want a parallel word in English, take a look at the word "up".
