How do I type the hyphen?

i can not find a way to get the space that goes in the ex novio. for the ex boyfriend. can anyone help please.

On my keyboard the hyphen "-" or "minus" symbol, is located to the right of the "0"(zero) on the top row, and two keys to the left of the "backspace" key.

My keyboards top row of keys:

~ 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 - = BACKSPACE

I don't know if yours is the same...

Please use correct spelling on this site.

On my keyboard the hyphen is right on the left side of the space, below the "enter key.
