I would love to see us all "get together" on a Wednesday night to watch the latest episode of an online Spanish TV show.
Togetherness: how can we achieve it?
So I was thinking. There are a few of us (maybe a dozen or more) that frequent this site and read through the answers daily... for whatever reason. What if there was a way for us to watch a TV series together, or a movie, or do SOME activity that involved participation? I would love to see us all "get together" on a Wednesday night to watch the latest episode of an online Spanish TV show, or some other activity, and then we could talk about it afterwards. Is there a way to make something like this happen? I'm interested in your ideas!

I like the way you think jeezle.
See what you think about these (very) rough ideas:
1). We could all watch the same show
If on TV, some program on telemundo or univision - I think that these stations are widely available, but I could be wrong
Otherwise, a program on the internet - probably a better idea.
2). We could start a group discussion regarding the content, what we thought about it, what we understood or didn't understand about the program, new vocabulary/phrases learned - all preferably in Spanish of course.
This could be done by starting a weekly thread that everyone could add to with a title like "Weekly programming - show name/date of show"
Or we could try to set up a time that we all use the chatroom on this site at the same time to discuss it.
It is as good idea and a nice thought Jeezle. I think something like this would be nice in combination with Moe's and Izanoni's suggestions. Of course, since none of us are in the same time zone it would probably be better to suggest a movie, TV show or even chapter of a book and then have people discuss it on an appointed day. Just like there are book clubs, etc., we could call this a "media club". Those who are interested could participate.
It would be nice to get people with varying skill levels involved, from beginner to fluent. I think that would make everyone feel the most welcome and and also use the talents of the more advanced in helping us to understand things that are difficult.
Just a reminder, if you are looking for programs to watch, I've been trying to keep a list of Spanish web sites and to update it when I see references to new ones. It might be helpful in choosing something to watch. On the other hand, it might not.
If you're interested, the list is here ----> Spanish Language Web Sites
Hey Phil,
Maybe everyone could come over my house on Wednesday to watch the sixth game of the World Series. Then everyone can either congratulate me or console me in Spanish. ![]()
Ok so I 've been looking through online shows that are in Spanish to see what I could find that we could all watch and enjoy. It's taking a really, really long time. Most of the stuff I could find was animated etc.. which I feel doesn't represent the majority interest. Having said that, I have found this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Rostro_de_Analía and I am continuing to search. I will update this post when I have found 3 other shows and or movies so that we can choose the one we want to watch. If anyone knows of any sites like Hulu.com that have Spanish shows or movies that would be GREAT. I know we don't want to watch "Destinos" or anything like that.
I think this is an excellent idea. That kind of came to mind when someone was asking about opinions of Almodóvar.
It seems like we could select something from Moe's list. Even if we didn't watch it simultaneously , we could get close and discuss it.
Maybe we could meet at Nicole's house on Fridays for dinner. She could cook for us then we could hang out then leave and she could clean up.
I will watch almost anything once just for the language challenge. Thanks for your efforts.
Ok I figured it out after sorting through tons of stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGtO6ylEctE&feature=related El Mundo de Beakman. I will post a seperate thread so that we can discuss it there. Also, anyone interested in a "Spanime" club send me a message and let's see what we can work out as there are tons of anime shows in Spanish. I will start the new thread now, this one can be considered closed to new info.
I'm sure that could work - but since it was your idea - suggest some programs that we could watch and we'll take it from there.
I'm not looking to overthrow the government here, I'm just looking for a way for us to learn together as opposed to seperately. We are all alone, in our own ways...wouldn't it be nice to come together.....to learn Spanish?
That would be neat. ![]()
Speaking of which, I have been trying to watch at least one movie in spanish a week. Last nights movie of the week was "Impulsos", which was a lot better than I had thought it was going to be. Does anyone else watch spanish movies regularily and have suggestions for good ones? Hmm, maybe I should have asked this in a new topic, but whatever...
I think this is an exellent idea, Jeez![]()
I am offering help with corrections, but all the conversations would have to be in Spanish, according to level of course, one must always try![]()
How about a series?
I am loving Flashforward...I think it is on once a week, so that would be an idea. However, I don't need to see this, I am getting into the thread anyway if you wish for corrections. so if you like a soap opera, just discuss it...I am not a fan, but anyways....![]()
Love the idea!! Flashforward is awesome Heidita!! I am a Heros fan as well. I am up for anything.
