Does "lo que" just mean "what"?

Use it in the middle of a sentence. "Que" is "what" or "that" at the beginning. "Lo que" is used in the middle to mean "what". Sometimes you will hear "que" used to mean "what" in the middle also, in songs and whatnot, but proper form dictates that "lo que" is "what" when in the middle........ according to Michel Thomas. wink

It can mean "what" or "which" and is generally used as a relative pronoun to refer back to the whole idea.
