ASK A QUESTION Can anyone recommend easy to understand Spanish web sites?
Hi,
I recently subscribed to a women's magazine for Latinas, "La Mujer" , which is written in Spanish. (The ads for American products in Spanish are especially fun.) I also found a web site in the magazine www.tuvozentuvida.com. Both are very helpful to me as tools to practice reading Spanish, as long as I can also access the dictionary here for help. I like these two publications because they are fairly understandable to someone who has a basic intermediate level and the articles are current and pretty interesting.
I was wondering if somebody could recommend a few more interesting Spanish web sites to visit. Hopefully, on a similar intermediate level.
Thanks for any and all recommendations.

Over the months, members have asked for other web sites they could access that might have useful learning material. I have saved some of the references. Here they are, in no particular order. I have not used any of them yet so I do not recommend either for or against any of them. Here is the list of what I have:
Spanish Songs for Teaching Children
I thought I had more but I think I lost some when I changed computers. I'll just have to try to keep this list more up-to-date.
Good luck with these links. I hope there is something here you like.

I don´t know whether you have heard but there is a brilliant Spanish web site called Spanishdict. I am told it is absolutely amazing. Here is a link to one of their administrators, Admin I am sure he will corroborate what I am saying.
- Hmmmm, I think I may have heard of this brilliant site during my many hours there. You are too funny by half. :) - LeeLee101 Oct 30, 2009 flag
- Funny, but true.. This site is very user-friendly, everything is easily accesible. Sometimes I try using the other sites' dictionaries & translation engines as well, but I always end up going back to this site. - Deanski Oct 30, 2009 flag
- It certainly is an amazing site. Please tell the administrator that he and whoever he is working with are incredible. This site is second to none!!! - Nicole-B Oct 31, 2009 flag
I just found this one this week, and I like it: ¡ahora si!
If you are into gossip hola.com might be the site for you.
Creo que no es muy difícil.
One of them I use is http://www.periodistadigital.com/ so I can help keep abreast of Spanish news in Spanish.
Si te gusta descargar música, va a www.flowhot.net. Lo tiene mucha música de latina, como Reggaeton, Cumbia, Merengue, y mas.
Disfrutalo!
Thanks to everyone for the great help.
I especially wanted to thank Moe for some great links. From Codys Cuentos site I found two more links. One is to www.reverbspanish.com. That site has a great PDF file they e-mail to you providing info on how adjectives can change meaning depending on whether they are used with estar or ser.
Thanks for all the great help!
I just looked it up on the internet out of curiousity of my own for helpful spanish sites. I found a site that is a directory of online newspapers in spanish countries written in spanish. It has countless, and I checked out a few of them. They have typical news, and if you can read spanish well enough and have this site to translate things you dont understand on another tab, it could be very helpful. Also it will increase your vocabulary so check it out:

Oh yes, Heidi Klum will support the previous forer opinion, I am sure![]()
I found some additional web sites and added them to the list of Hyperlinks I created in my earlier Reply. See the Reply and links.
I buy the magazine Vanidades off the rack sometimes. It actually has articles about history and culture in it, as well as fiction. The cover makes it look like it is just another make up, fashion, gossip rag but it is better than that.
link textwww.20minutos.es is my best friend. The articles are short and hardly overwhelming, yet they are challenging. They have articles from every different subjects from world news to video games. Check it out.
I found that LoMásTV is really great- they have videos with subtitles and most of it is actually interesting so you don't feel like you're doing preschooler lessons. They also allow you to slow down the audio, which I love. Unfortunately, you have to subscribe to access most of the videos.
If you're into political news and stuff, BBC Mundo and La Matinal are great podcasts with daily news, and free! I love it because I get to practice listening but also help stay up to date on world affairs.
Here is a link with some games and other things I find fun.
