Mercedes Sosa died this month in Buenos Aires. I had the privilege to meet her once several years ago. I think I am right in saying that she was probably the most famous singer in South America. Who succeeds to this title?

I think some are getting very famous, like Shakira, but are they as good? I don't know, I had not heard of Mercedes sosa.
